Variegated Dogwood vs Strawberry Sensation Haskap (Honeyberry)
Cornus alba argenteo-marginata
Lonicera caerulea Strawberry Sensation
NOT AVAILABLE THIS SEASON
Variegated Dogwood is a small shrub that is often used in the first row of a shelterbelt, as a hedge, or for soil stabilization projects. It has the same distinctive red bark, white flowers, and berries as Red Osier Dogwood.
The key difference between the two is the leaves. Where Red Osier's leaves are green throughout, Variegated Dogwood has a white outline around each leaf, giving this shrub a distinctive look.
Strawberry Sensation Haskap is a new cultivar from Berries Unlimited that is getting lots of attention. These haskaps have a unique flavor that range from sweet to tart with an alpine strawberry after taste. This highly productive shrub produces haskaps late season and are ideal for freezing or fresh eating.
Strawberry Sensation is an late pollinating variety. Pair with other late pollinators to have a higher yield.
Boreal Blizzard is a great companion variety.
