Sea Buckthorn (Seaberry) for sale
Sea Buckthorn (Seaberry)
Hippophae rhamnoides l.
Sea Buckthorn, aka Seaberry, is a nitrogen fixing shrub that produces attractive berries high in vitamin C.
While we can't confirm claims that the berries are effective in treating various ailments, many people believe consuming the berries helps with arthritis, infections, and asthma, among other things.
Sea Buckthorn plants have attractive pale silvery-green leaves, dense branches, and large thorns, people like to grow in ornamental hedges or as a first row in a shelterbelt.
Note: these plants typically reach maturity and make their sex easily known (females producing fruit) in their 3rd or 4th year of growth. Our seedlings are too young to identify their sex.

Sea Buckthorn - 1 Year Old - Indian Summer
The Indian Summer seed source is a cold hardy and drought tolerant selection developed by Bill Schroeder at the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration (PFRA) in Indian Head, Saskatchewan. This seed source is largely from Russia and Mongolia originally and is highly sought after for a few reasons including its berries, growth habit, and agroforestry applications including nitrogen fixing, wildlife cover, intercropping, reclamation, and more. The Canadian government used some of the plants from this seed source in their breeding program for larger berried and thornless varieties.Stock Type: 412A Plug (125 ml)
