Red Spruce

The Hoopsii Spruce is a cold-hardy variety that has attractive silvery-blue foliage. It is a dense evergreen tree with a distinctive pyramidal form. The needles are highly ornamental and retain their color throughout the winter, which allowed it to win the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.

The Hoopsii Spruce, is a Blue Spruce cultivar and is popular due to being relatively low-maintenance and having a high pollution tolerance.

Red Spruce is a long-lived, shade tolerant conifer that grows naturally in eastern Ontario and the Maritime provinces. Hardiest in the eastern regions of Canada, this tree tolerates many soil types, moisture levels, and is low maintenance.

Attractive year-round foliage makes Red Spruce a nice ornamental tree for urban and rural landscapes. If you are considering creating a shelterbelt, privacy screen, or hedge in eastern Canada, this tree is an excellent option.
