Pin Cherry is a small tree that produces clusters of white blossoms in spring followed by bright red berries that ripen through the summer. Then in the fall, the red color of the leaves is really quite attractive.
The fruit is quite sour when eaten fresh but is excellent when cooked into jam or jelly. Birds love the berries and will be attracted to your property.
Pin Cherry is also important to native pollinators. They have higher amounts of pollen and nectar in May when some other food sources are not available.
Pin Cherry is a large deciduous shrub that produces edible fruit and has a brilliant, fluorescent orange fall color. Branches have a weeping tendency. An often overlooked species, this one is a staff favourite.
