Prunus tenella

Malus x Treasured Red Columnar

Russian Almond
Treasured Red Columnar Apple

Russian Almond is a low maintenance, short, slightly suckering shrub. It is covered with attractive, bright pink flowers in early spring before its foliage emerges.

This hardy species forms dense thickets attracts wildlife. Russian Almond prefers full sun and well-drained soils, but can tolerate moist soils.

The nuts it produces are quite attractive but very small. They are bitter and possibly toxic in large quantities.

This exciting new Columnar Apple has an exquisite texture and a flavour similar to a McIntosh apple. Super compact, they fit easily into small urban gardens or along fences and decks.
Unlike traditional apples that grow on horizontal branches, the Treasured Red bares fruit on short spurs that develop along the main tree trunk. The bright cherry red fruit ripens in Mid-September, and stores well!
